Color, or lack therof

The husband told me last night to start thinking about colors for the kitchen. We're no where near ready for that but it takes us him a long time to make decisions. I did a little dance inside and started thinking. At bedtime I asked if he wanted to do all one color or to try to separate the dining area of the kitchen from the cooking area. I think that's why there was different wallpaper. He said no, to do it all one color. I mentioned light green. His response? "Are you kidding me? You're joking right? That's ridiculous." He did eventually apologize for his immediate reaction, but his idea of "colors" are white, off-white and beige.

When we moved into the house the only room we painted was our bedroom. White. Before the Princess was born he painted her room. White.

There is one room in the house with color. The living room has some type of rose color that some see as more purplish and some WRONG people see as pink. Anyway, the reason I do not want to have it repainted is because it is the ONLY color in the house and I'm afraid I will wind up with a white living room. I am hoping that Vader's laziness and not wanting to have that repainted will be stronger than his mental institution desires.

I am determined to take control. I am in the house more than he is. I am definitely in the kitchen more since I do all the goddamn cooking. I will have color in my life. So, dear readers. I have light blue counters and wood cabinets. What color would you paint my kitchen?

Hey there! What about a complementary shade of blue? Or, since I am a green fan, stand strong for green. I think green and blue look great together.

I think pale green would be lovely - make your kitchen nice and springlike. Either that or a soft yellow. :)

I agree with Liza. A soft buttery yellow would be a good compromise -- it's a color but not too far from beige to give him heart palpitations :o)

I am in love with yellow... Had a yellow kitchen before... Have yellow cabinets now... About to get yellow siding... Yellow is a good color! Teeheehee... I agree that white and beige are too boring for an entire house, and I agree that you should get a little more say since you are there more often... I just caught up on all of your other posts, so here are some random comments on them too:* You are not rude for saying you didn't want company, and your MIL should have asked rather than telling* It is awesome that Princess has started peeing on the potty... Who knows? Maybe she will be potty trained by 2 years!* Sorry to hear that your pain became a phantom when you went to the doctor... It always seems to happen that way, but persistence may pay off... Keep at it!* And, while you're at it, smack that husband upside the head! I cannot believe that he admitted it sucked for you to pack for three people and didn't even think to offer his assistance... WTF?!?* Boogie is really into numbers, so maybe we need to have another playdate just so SkyWalker can tutor him in math! Teeheehee...* Sorry to hear that you will need 3 weeks off in July, but I guess it just makes sense that all of the time I have been messing with your Thursday night schedule will come back to haunt me... Speaking of -- I am here for a day shift this week because Nice forgot to schedule Bagel during her morning school visits... Oops!Ok... I think those were all the comments I intended to make... Teeheehee... Hope tonight's a good one...

I won't throw out a specific color, but I think you do need to work on Vader and his idea of wall color. Magazines, friends/families homes, paint samples, etc, anything to convince him that a dash of color is the way to go. Otherwise tell him that you're buying Skywalker and the Princess tons of pastels and oils and letting them express their artistic sides on the "Cuckoos Nest" walls.
